“Elegant, magnetic and charismatic!” These are the words expressed by audiences all over the world as they discover the man behind the stellar voice that seems to reach the heavens each and every time he graces a stage. Ohad, or as some people refer to him simply as Oh! for obvious reasons, burst onto the musical stage in 2003 when he came out of nowhere to grab the highest honors at the annual Man Of They Year award show in Israel with his rendition of Piho Poscho (Sha-La-La). Next stop, New York, and a visit to the offices and home of composer and producer Yossi Green who didn’t take long to commit himself to working with this exceptional young man. What followed was the CD called Ve’airastich that is constantly climbing the Chasidic Music charts worldwide.
The New York concert-going audience met Ohad with a bang when he was introduced, rather cryptically, at a ‘Shades of Green’ concert in Lincoln Center by Yossi Green at the piano as, “A young man I met in Israel that I would like to introduce to you tonight!” Ohad came out on to the great stage and brought the house down with a modern rendition of the song Aderaba. Ohad has never looked back since. In 2005, Ohad again stunned the sold-out audience in Madison Square Garden with his voice and left the audience screaming for encores with the chant “Ohad! Ohad!” Since then, he has performed wherever there are Jewish audiences and has become a household name.
Ohad was born and raised in Antwerpen, Belgium, speaks four languages fluently and eventually made Aliyah to Israel where he lives with his family in Modi’in.
Gentle and reserved young man offstage, Ohad has firmly lodged himself in our hearts as we watch him climb the charts and share his stunning voice, his big heart and his “nesuit chein al habama” (charisma on the stage).
